Portiragnes village

The old village of Portiragnes overlooks the famous Canal du Midi. On a hill, surrounded by vineyards, the village was originally built around its 12th century church. It has a typically french village atmosphere with several local wine producers, pétanque and colourful festivals.

This peaceful village has a post office, sports hall, medical centre, a few shops and bars, a restaurant, pizzeria and a supermarket. There is a market every Sunday. The unspoilt seaside resort of Portiragnes Plage is five kilometres from the village. A bicycle path runs along the Canal du Midi to the beach. Here there are numerous restaurants and bars and various beach activities.

It is an ideal centre for touring the region, experiencing the peace and calm of village life, spending your days on the beach or visiting the many inland tourist sites.

Le vieux village de Portiragnes est au bord du Canal du Midi. Sur une colline, entouré par des vignes, le village a été construit autour de son église datant du 12ème siècle. L' atmosphère du village est typiquement française avec plusieurs producteurs de vin du pays et pétanque. On peut apprécier son folklore et ses traditions qui en font un village où il fait bon vivre.

Il y a une poste, une salle polyvalente, un centre médical, quelques magasins et bars, un restaurant, une pizzeria et un supermarché. Au centre du village il y a un grand marché tous les dimanches de 8H à 13H. C'est un centre idéal pour visiter la région, pour connaître la paix et le calme de la vie de village, pour passer vos jours sur la plage ou pour visiter les nombreuses attractions touristiques à l'intérieur des terres.

A 5 km du vieux village, la station balnéaire de Portiragnes-Plage a une longue plage de sable fin (pavillon bleu depuis sa création) avec la baignade surveillée et avec un maximum d'ensoleillement. Ici on trouve des restaurants, bars et des nombreuses animations et activités.
